XRP branding reportedly appears in NYC subway ahead of Ripple's Swell
In brief
- XRP branding appeared on subway trains and at Manhattan's 42nd Street station, U.Today reported.
- American flags and the slogan "Crypto Responsibly" reportedly feature in the ads.
- Campaign cost, length and extent have not been officially confirmed.
- Ripple's Swell conference is scheduled for Oct. 27 to Oct. 29 in New York City.
What the videos show
According to U.Today, recent videos show subway cars covered in XRP's large white logo set against a black backdrop. The campaign also includes American flags and the slogan "Crypto Responsibly," which the outlet called a key element of XRP's current marketing strategy. It isn't limited to the outside of the trains. U.Today said XRP's logo and branding are reportedly visible inside the cars and in the station itself.
Who paid for it isn't clear.
U.Today said there's no official confirmation of the financial outlay, length or extent of the NYC subway campaign. That leaves the basic questions (cost, duration, sponsor) without an answer for now.
Other branding moves
The subway sighting follows several other XRP branding efforts, according to U.Today. The token's official X account went live on Oct. 19 as a joint initiative of Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation.
In the first tweet, the account simply said: "Hello, world. It's about time."
That launch coincided with the release of XRP.org, a website focused on use cases like cross-border payments and low-cost transactions. The "Crypto Responsibly" slogan is featured prominently on the site, echoing the message reported underground in Manhattan. Ripple has also pushed XRP into college sports: in July, it announced a multi-year partnership with the University of Kansas that put XRP branding on the school's teams, including football and basketball.
Hackathon, then Swell
The ads also landed during a busy week of XRP Ledger events in the city. The AI & Fintech XRP Ledger Hackathon, a 36-hour coding event organized by XRPL Commons, ran in NYC on Oct. 24–25. Ripple, Mastercard, Ledger, Amazon Web Services and QuickNode partnered on it, and U.Today said the hackathon was deliberately timed ahead of Swell.
Swell, Ripple's premier conference, is scheduled to run from Oct. 27 to Oct. 29 in New York City. U.Today didn't say how long the subway branding will stay up.
