Bitcoin ETF inflows surge $170.1M on August 3 after $265M outflow
In brief
- Seven of 12 Bitcoin ETFs attracted inflows on August 3, with five flat
- BlackRock's IBIT led with $111.4M inflows, nearly two-thirds of total
- Fidelity's FBTC added $33.4M, the second-largest inflow of the day
- Recovery followed a brutal $265.4M outflow session on July 31
BlackRock's IBIT dominates the rebound
BlackRock's IBIT received $111.4 million on August 3, accounting for roughly 65.5% of the day's total inflows. The fund had posted the largest outflow on July 31 with $122.7 million in net redemptions. That swing alone—from $122.7 million out to $111.4 million in—illustrates the volatility gripping the Bitcoin ETF complex.
Fidelity's FBTC added $33.4 million, the second-largest inflow, following its own $54.8 million outflow on July 31. The other six positive funds combined for $58.7 million in inflows, led by EZBC with $9.2 million, BTCO with $6.7 million, and HODL with $4.5 million.
Outflows hit nearly all funds on July 31
The July 31 selloff was sweeping. No Bitcoin ETF fund reported a net inflow that session, with major redemptions across the board. GBTC recorded $52.6 million of redemptions, while ARKB and BITB each lost roughly $17–18 million.
The August 3 rebound wasn't uniform. Seven of the 12 listed Bitcoin ETF funds attracted cash, while five were flat. That's a meaningful broadening from the July 31 washout, but concentration remained extreme.
Concentration persists despite breadth
"The Bitcoin ETF inflow rebound reached more funds while remaining heavily concentrated," according to Farside Investors' analysis. IBIT's dominance—capturing nearly two-thirds of inflows on a day when seven funds posted positive flows—underscores the challenge facing competitors. On July 30, seven funds had reported positive net flows and attracted $233.1 million combined, suggesting that when flows turn, they can shift quickly and unevenly across the product suite.
