In brief

  • fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment activated July 28 with 85.71% validator support (30 of 35 nodes)
  • Upgrade hardens Single Asset Vaults, Lending Protocol, permissioned DEX, and multi-purpose tokens
  • XRPL 3.2.0 now minimum version; nodes on 3.1.0 and below may face amendment-blocking
  • Fixes stem from Ripple's AI-assisted red team security initiative launched March 2024

Security Hardening in Motion

The fixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade is the result of Ripple's security efforts for the XRP Ledger. Ripple said in March that it would form a dedicated AI-assisted red team to continuously hunt for vulnerabilities in the network. The XRPL 3.1.3 release, which included the fixCleanup3_1_3, was the first dedicated security release to come out of this effort.

The latest amendment represents the next phase of that initiative. The fixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade adds precision and rounding fixes for single asset vaults and the lending protocol, patches for the permissioned DEX and permissioned domains, validation for non-canonical MPT amounts, and new invariant checks. These aren't flashy features. They're the kind of maintenance work that keeps a ledger stable.

Validator Adoption and Node Requirements

Adoption moved fast. The amendment crossed the 80% threshold needed for activation, cementing its place as live protocol law. Nodes running version 3.1.0 and below might be amendment-blocked until they upgrade to 3.2.0, according to XRPScan data.

This means operators running older versions face a practical deadline. The network doesn't force upgrades, but it does signal which version is required to stay in sync.

Ecosystem Moves

In parallel, Upbit, the largest XRP-holding exchange with over 6.4 billion XRP, is now supporting RLUSD deposits and withdrawals on the XRP Ledger with KRW/BTC/USDT trading pairs. The stablecoin integration on a major exchange adds utility to the ledger's native rails, even as the protocol layer hardens beneath it.
