In brief

  • Strategy raised $334 million from MSTR at-the-market offering
  • Company repurchased $132.2 million of STRC shares from proceeds
  • USD reserves increased to $4.8 billion as of August 16
  • Bitcoin holdings unchanged at 840,447 BTC, worth ~$53.4 billion

Capital Deployment and Shareholder Returns

Strategy repurchased $132.2 million of STRC shares, acquiring 1.39 million shares during the period. The company allocated about $52.4 million toward STRC dividends and $149.1 million to its USD reserve. This three-part capital structure reflects the company's stated strategy: using equity offerings to fund preferred-stock obligations, buyback programs, and liquidity buffers simultaneously.

Its USD reserve increased to $4.8 billion as of August 16. That reserve now stands as a meaningful cushion for future operations and opportunistic deployment. The company retained $653 million under its preferred-stock repurchase program and $1 billion under its MSTR buyback authorization.

Bitcoin Holdings Unchanged

Strategy did not transact in Bitcoin during the week, leaving its holdings at 840,447 BTC. The stash is currently worth about $53.4 billion based on market prices. This marks a pause after the company sold $109 million worth of Bitcoin in the week ending August 9, signaling a shift from active Bitcoin sales to equity-focused capital raising.

The pattern suggests Strategy is prioritizing its liquidity and shareholder-return obligations through MSTR offerings rather than Bitcoin liquidation. Whether this approach persists depends on market conditions and the company's forward guidance on capital allocation.
